Just Who is Sheri?

I'm Sheri. Ron is on the left.

Sheri was born and raised in Roseville, California. She attended public, elementary school where they used an excellent phonics program (DISTAR) to teach reading. She graduated from public High School, attended Sierra College and finally Sac City College where she became a registered dental hygienist (RDH). She is married and over the course of 33 years has ten children: six girls and four boys. All of her boys had speech issues ranging from the normal R`s to L`s, one who just wouldn't move his lips, and even one with a severe case of stuttering. One of her girls had minor speech problems, as many children do.

To Sheri, failure by giving up or in is just not an option. She has taught all of her children reading before attending Kindergarten, using the DISTAR program. With every son, she was quick to get them into speech therapy and to help them exercise and practice saying their sounds right. When told by doctors that the stutter would maybe never go away, she studied, attended conferences and found a specialist that helped correct it anyway.

Now, two of her children show signs of dyslexia, and just as before, giving up is not an option. She talked to doctors and specialists, read a good book or two, and trained to be a Barton Reading and Spelling System tutor. Sheri has seen great progress in her own son, and others whom she has taught. She is kind, patient, hardworking and doesn't let challenges get her down.

My son has been receiving excellent training from Sheri for over two years. He has made vast improvements in his reading, writing and spelling. It was so hard for him before, and now he is blossoming. I cannot be grateful enough for this program and the time Sheri has put in to help my son. Definitely worth the effort.
