Requirements

Times and Places

Sheri is available for online, virtual classroom-based tutoring using Zoom and some special tools available to Barton instructors. She can help you any weekday evening after 6 pm Pacific Time. If in-person instruction is required, arrangements can be made to use an office space in Roseville for a slightly higher fee to cover renting the room. Weekday appointments will be with Ron, either virtual or in person, whichever is your preference.

Participation

One-on-one instruction is required. Meeting two times per week is a necessity, except for cases if illness, emergencies or scheduled absences. There is no homework, but applying what you learn each time just makes sense. For students under the age of 16, a parent must be along during each virtual or in-person session. All in-person sessions will be video recorded for both of our liabilities. Parent or legal guardian written consent will be required. The videos will only ever be stored locally on an encrypted hard drive with very limited, secure authentication required to access.

Computer System

Students must to have a computer system capable of running the free Zoom application. Browser based Zoom and other meeting applications have not been shown to work because of simultaneous screen and video-feed sharing issues. Both audio and video feeds are required in both directions. Typically, this dictates a Windows operating system with a wired, fiber or 4G or greater wireless Internet connection supporting at least 5 Mb up and down. Satellite Internet connections have not been tested. MacOS, Linux or BSD based computers may also work. Compatibility will be tested before any instruction is scheduled. My son has been receiving excellent training from Sheri for over two years. He has made vast improvements in his reading, writing and spelling. It was so hard for him before, and now he is blossoming. I cannot be grateful enough for this program and the time Sheri has put in to help my son. Definitely worth the effort.
